The near future of work should be based on hub cities

August 6th, 2020

Let’s use Brisbane, QLD, Australia as an example.

Beer fridges, ping pong tables and pizza is a culture.

Trust, autonomy and results-based work is also a culture.

Truly valuing employee time, health and family balance is a culture.

I get it, there is a lot of risk in remote work.

But this can be managed by forward thinking leaders.

With hub cities, your team can get together to make big decisions within a few hours.

This doesn’t need to be every day.

Drive in any direction from Brisbane, you get:

Smaller town, family life: Toowoomba
Relaxed beach life style: Sunshine Coast
A bit more lively: Gold Coast

Lower house prices, more space, quality of living. Way less cars on the M1 every day.

It could completely transform the QLD economy in regards to the tech industry and I think
people would line up to move here.

Imagine what it would do for talent pouring into the country, to company retention rates and loyalty!
